Frequently Asked Questions

cakes

Are your cakes made from scratch?

Yes, all of our products are made from scratch! When you buy from The Potoroo Pantry you can be assured that everything is handmade, mixed and baked in small batches - from the pastries we mix, roll, shape and bake to the variety of cake flavours and fillings - we do it all. We use great quality ingredients such as Victorian dairy products, free-range eggs and homegrown edible flowers, as well as sustainably grown and sourced Australian native fruits, herbs and spices.

When should I order?

The online ordering system on our website requires a minimum of SEVEN days' notice. We do not generally work on Tuesdays or Wednesdays, but if you do require something for these days, please send us an enquiry. Sometimes in life you may require a cake at short notice - please email us if this is the case and we will see what we can do.
For custom orders I would recommend getting in touch well in advance, so that you don't miss out as we do have limited availability at times. Please note that your order is not confirmed until we have received your 25% deposit.

Do you deliver?

Order delivery is $10 within the Apollo Bay and Marengo townships. If you would prefer to collect your order from our registered kitchen in Apollo Bay, we will organise the details with you when we process your booking.
Deliveries to all other locations are priced from $1.50 per kilometre for the return trip. This covers the cost of my time, fuel and clocking up distances in my car!

The long and winding roads of the Otways lead to some beautiful locations - often we deliver custom orders to the following places:

  • Cape Otway $84
  • Johanna Beach $114
  • Lavers Hill $177
  • Skenes Creek $18
  • Skenes Creek North $30
  • Forrest $114
  • Wye River $84
  • Lorne $135

If you require a delivery elsewhere, please email potoroopantry@gmail.com for a quote. Local collection from Apollo Bay can also be arranged.

How do I transport my cake?

If you are collecting your order or travelling anywhere with it, please do not transfer cakes in a warm car. Ensure that you have the air conditioner on prior to pick up so that the car is nice and cold. Please place the cake securely in the boot or on the passenger side floor so that it is flat and less likely to slide around and cover it with light sheet to keep the sunlight off it. We will not be responsible for any damages that may occur after the cake leaves our hands.

Can I order an allergen friendly cake?

We do have a few delicious allergen-friendly products which can cater to certain food allergies.  Please note that all our allergen-friendly products are made in a kitchen that regularly uses egg, wheat, nuts, dairy etc so there is a risk of cross-contamination from traces in the air. If you or a guest has a known allergy, please get in touch with us before placing an order, so we can confirm if I am the right baker for you.

Can I cancel my order?

A 25% deposit must be paid on booking for an order to be confirmed. Please note that deposits are non-refundable but may be transferable. Please get in touch ASAP if you need to cancel/reschedule your order. Please refer to our full terms and conditions here.
